The first fruits of my container garden. Oh, my goodness! The flavor of the tomato - through no work of mine other than putting a plant I bought from WalMart in a pot with Miracle Gro potting soil, giving it plenty of sun, watering it, talking to it and fretting over it regularly - was unmatched by anything I've tasted from a grocery store.

So here is my homegrown salad. My homegrown tomatoes, lettuce and basil, along with storebought vidalia onions and feta cheese and homemade balsamic vinaigrette (Nicole Hood taught me how to make my own salad dressing - thanks Nicole) - yummy!

Balsamic vinaigrette

Balsamic vinegar (a good, aged one. I used Colavita Aged Balsamic Vinegar)
Italian seasoning (if you have some fresh herbs, that would be better)
Mustard (a little)
Garlic
Salt & pepper to taste
Olive oil
